This Week in Gaming: Steam Releases, Browser Hits, And AI-Powered Tools

I was completely conquered by _Hades 2_ this week. We made an appointment to play for only an hour at ten o’clock last night, but it turned out to be three o’clock in the morning when I looked up again. This sequel enriches the worldview of Greek mythology. Every time a death opens a new plot line, people can’t stop at all. I like to use the new character Melinoe the most. Her magic attack is particularly touching. A player on the forum said that he had died more than 300 times in the game, but he could find something new every time he was reborn. This kind of design is really clever.

_Animal Well_ gave me a big surprise this week. Although it is pixel style, there are so many details in it that it is outrageous. I was stuck in the first area for forty minutes, and finally found that I had to blow into the screen to activate the hidden switch. This unreasonable design reminds me of the feeling of playing _Zelda_ when I was a child. Now we are discussing new discoveries with colleagues every day at work, and we have found three hidden areas.

_Connections_ has become the new favorite of our office. Every day during the lunch break, everyone gathered together to guess the word classification. Yesterday, they argued for the category of “Taylor Swift’s song name”. The most interesting thing is to find that everyone’s knowledge blind spot is different. Programmer colleagues know everything about technology, but they don’t know anything about popular culture. This simple and knowledge-testing little game is especially suitable for fragment time.

_GeoGuessr_ made a big joke for me this week. The system threw me into a small town in Chile. I marked Argentina with full confidence, but it turned out to be 100,000 miles apart. Later, I looked closely at the street scene and found the Spanish prompts on the roadside billboard. Although I guessed wrong, the feeling of traveling around the world is still very addictive. I have planned to have a geography quiz with my friends on the weekend.

What surprises me most is the progress of AI playing games now. I heard that the latest AI can already understand the continuous instructions such as “mine first, then build weapons”. Although it still makes fools occasionally, such as attacking trees as enemies, compared with the AI that could only play simple games last year, this progress is simply amazing. Maybe we can really team up with AI to make copies next year.

This week’s game experience is quite fulfilling. Hades 2 made me regain my passion for staying up late to play games, and Animal Well satisfied my desire to explore, and web games are still the best companions in daily life. What I am most looking forward to is the development of AI technology. Maybe we will have artificial intelligence game partners in the near future. What did you play this week? Have you encountered any new games that make you forget to eat? Come and share it in the comment section.
